Charles Allen Hutchison (SAG) NEXT>

One of the founding members of the Third Coast Theatre Company. A native East Texan; Charles attended La Porte H.S., a magnet school for the theatre arts. There he performed in numerous plays, improv shows and one-act play competitions. In the Spring of his junior year he competed at the State level in the UIL One-Act Play Competition; he subsequently lead an ensemble cast to achieve third place at this prestige event. He attended Lon Morris College his freshman year on an acting scholarship and there also performed in several main stage and student productions. Some of those are Dancing at Lughnasa, A Funny Thing . . .Forum and Romeo and Juliet. Beginning his sophomore year at The University of Houston - School of Theatre, again on an acting scholarship, Charles performing in such main stage shows as Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet. He also performed in several student productions such as The Kentucky Cycles - Tall Tales, The Dreamer . . .Pillow, Fool For Love and Answers. During his stint at UH he also performed at the various amateur and professional theatres in Houston. Such as Scapino! and Taming of the Shrew at the Actors Theatre; and The Outsiders and Macbeth at Main Street Theatre. Also, during this time he had the pleasure to meet and work with Pulitzer Prize winning play write Edward Albee on several occasions. The first being while at UH Mr. Albee taught a new plays workshop in where he used UH students as well as local professionals to showcase new play writes; not once but twice Charles was personally cast by Mr. Albee in these workshops. Charles then had the pleasure to work with Mr. Albee at Stages Repertory Theatre on a revival of All Over. Other training: Master Acting Class with the late Jose’ Quintero; Master Acting Class Workshop with Uta Hagen as well as Carolyn Houston Boone and PhD. John C. Martin, Voice Master Deborah Kinghorn and Shakespeare by PhD. Sydney Berger. Other Theatre credits include Tombigbee also at Stages Rep. Inherit the Wind and Anthony and Abigail at the Tony Award winning Alley Theatre. Taming of the Shrew and The Tempest at the Houston Shakespeare Festival and countless children's plays with the Children’s Theatre Festival of Houston.
While attending UH Charles was scouted by a prominent Texas based talent agency during a performance and began his on camera training/career simultaneously. He studied acting for the camera at Chris Wilson’s Studio and booked numerous industrials, local commercials and two Nationals (Verizon Wireless and Time Warner Cable). One month after moving to LA he signed an exclusive commercials only contract with the acclaimed Sutton, Barth & Vennari, represented by SBV, Charles booked his very first ever LA audition with the lead in a Jack in the Box spot; also booked another National spot with Hallmark that same year. His films credits include Dana Clutz (principal) student film, Arlington Road (uncredited) student, P.M.R.C.(uncredited), The Gulf (Official selection of the Woodstock Film Festival) and The New Guy (principal) directed by Ed Dector (writer of Something About Mary.)
